Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@a5elements.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

In the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (770 BC - 221 BC), TCM theories had already taken shape and marked the emergence of anatomical studies and medical specialization.

TCM encompasses a wide range of therapeutic methods, with the six most common being acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, massage, qigong, and dietary therapy, often complemented by practices like tai chi and other movement therapies. These combined elements form the five pillars of contemporary TCM.

Among various traditional medical practices, TCM undeniably boasts the widest dissemination, particularly in the global adoption of acupuncture and massage, which continue to be widely used worldwide even to this day.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of healthcare that has a rich history in China. With its roots dating back thousands of years, TCM emphasizes the harmony between nature and the human body, striving to maintain balance and promote wellness.

At the core of TCM philosophy is the concept of "unity of heaven and man," which recognizes the interconnection between the individual and the surrounding environment. It is believed that the human body is an integral part of nature and subject to the same laws that govern the universe. By aligning oneself with the rhythms of nature, one can achieve optimal health and well-being.

Unlike Western medicine, which focuses primarily on disease diagnosis and treatment, TCM takes a holistic approach to health. It employs the "Four Diagnostic Methods" (observation, listening and smelling, questioning, and palpation) to assess the patient's condition comprehensively. Through this process, TCM practitioners identify patterns of disharmony and determine the underlying causes of illness.

Based on the principles of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), TCM views health as a state of balance and disease as an imbalance or disruption in the body's energy flow. Treatment methods in TCM include acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, massage (Tui Na), and qigong exercises. These modalities aim to restore harmony and stimulate the body's natural healing abilities.

Acupuncture, a well-known aspect of TCM, involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) and restore balance. Herbal medicine, another cornerstone of TCM, utilizes a vast array of medicinal plants and natural substances to address various health conditions.

One of the unique aspects of TCM is its individualized approach to treatment. Practitioners consider not only the symptoms but also the patient's overall constitution and underlying imbalances. This personalized approach allows for tailored treatment plans that address the root causes of illness and support long-term wellness.

TCM's comprehensive approach to healthcare has gained recognition worldwide, and its effectiveness has been demonstrated in the treatment of various conditions. It offers a natural and holistic alternative to Western medicine, focusing not only on symptom relief but also on promoting overall well-being.

As a traditional healing system deeply rooted in Chinese culture, TCM continues to evolve and adapt to the needs of modern times. Its timeless wisdom and holistic principles make it a valuable and complementary approach to healthcare, providing a unique perspective on health and wellness.

In order to become a qualified doctor of TCM, one must first enter a regular university of TCM in China to study, with a five-year schooling period and two years of internship. During their university studies, students majoring in Chinese medicine need to systematically study TCM Diagnostics, TCM Therapeutics, TCM herbal medicine, TCM Prescriptions, Meridians and Acupoints, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, TCM TuiNa massage, TCMIinternal medicine, TCM Gynecology, TCM Pediatrics, TCM Orthopedics, TCM Health Preservation, TCM Diet Therapy, Nutrition, Human anatomy, Human Physiology, Human pathology, Clinical Courses of western medicine (including internal medicine and basic diagnostics), Psychology, Nursing, etc.
