Winter Chapter

In the natural order, everything follows the changing rhythms of spring's birth, summer's growth, autumn's harvest, and winter's hibernation. Winter, a season characterized by a relatively slow metabolism, is also a crucial period for laying a robust foundation for the upcoming year's health. The key to winter wellness lies in staying warm, avoiding excessive energy expenditure, and concentrating on storing vitality for the spring ahead.

Ginger JuJube Tea

From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), drinking warm herbal teas during the cold winter months brings undeniable benefits to the body. Among them, "Ginger Jujube Tea" stands out as a classic beverage that is simple to make at home.

“Ginger Jujube Tea” consists of only three ingredients: Ginger, Chinese red dates, and Brown Sugar. According to TCM, Ginger is a remedy known for its ability to warm the spleen and dispel cold. The gingerol in ginger promotes blood circulation, helping to expel cold and prevent joint pain and colds.

Jujube, also known as red or Chinese date, another essential component of “Ginger Jujube Tea”, are characterized by their sweet and warm nature. They have the effects of nourishing blood, enhancing Qi, and supporting the spleen and stomach. In TCM, red dates are considered an ideal dietary ingredient with significant effects on regulating the spleen, enhancing physical fitness.

Brown sugar, with its recognized health benefits in various cultures, has been part of Chinese tradition for over a thousand years. From the perspective of TCM, brown sugar is warm in nature and sweet in taste. It enters the spleen, nourishes Qi and blood, aids digestion, warms the spleen and stomach, promotes bowel movements, activates blood circulation, relieves pain, especially suitable for consumption by mothers, children, the elderly, women during menstruation, those with wind-cold colds, recovering patients, and anemic individuals.

In summary, “Ginger Jujube Tea” offers the benefits of warming and dispelling cold, nourishing blood, and enhancing Qi during the winter season. It is a healthy and delicious beverage for everyone. However, when consuming, individual considerations are necessary, particularly for diabetes patients who should carefully control sugar intake.

Enjoying a cup of “Ginger Jujube Tea” every day brings sweetness to the heart and warmth to the body!

Ingredients: Ginger, Jujube, Brown Suger

Wash the dates and ginger, remove the pits from the jujubes, peel and shred the ginger.

Combine the jujubes, ginger,  brown sugar in a jug.

Add 1L water and bring to a boil. Once the water boils, continue cooking for 25 minutes.

Turn off the heat, let it sit at a moderate temperature, and enjoy it while warm.
